After many years building a career as a manager and a leader, in 1996 I founded the first of what would become a collection of my own interconnected, small business enterprises.
Over the ensuing decades, I identified opportunities and acted on them in a variety of industries, generating millions of dollars in turnover and profits, and employing thousands of staff.
So, you know that I've walked the talk. I have had both setbacks and successes, so I understand the pressures of running and trying to grow your own business, whilst balancing it with family commitments and trying to enjoy the best lifestyle that you can.
I've always been fascinated by people and what makes them tick. That's probably what has drawn me to service industries and to developing my own coaching practice.
As my old mate, John Denton says, "Business can be a lonely place sometimes." When you're going through struggles, you often don't know who, or even what, to ask, and that can be quite isolating, or worse, soul-destroying.
I wanted to give something back to the community and I found that I could do that best by helping other entrepreneurs with their journeys and passing on the benefit of some of my experience and, I hope, my wisdom.
It's such a tremendous feeling when you discover that, even in some small way, you may have inspired a person to battle through a crisis, or ideally avert one, or to believe in themselves because you believed in them, and for them to then go on and realise their potential.
Sometimes, you may never even realise that you have inspired someone, but that's ok. That's the power of karma and the ripple effect of seeking to do good in the world.
